This survey, conducted with 743 participants in anticipation of Disability Week starting on December 3, has been introduced in AERA dot.

In the article, it mentions that some people with disabilities produce vocalizations like a prolonged “uuuu” sound and have difficulty adjusting their voice volume.

It is a natural human defense reaction to feel “scared” when someone like this is nearby.

However, if possible, after feeling “scared,” I hope people can take an interest and think, “Why are they making that sound?”

By doing so, I believe that little by little, we can convey what disabilities are really like.
