Supporter of People with Disabilities Declaration Vol. 1 – VISAGE Studio

VISAGE Studio, a Photography Studio in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture

On July 22, 2021, we had the opportunity to interview Mr. Yuta Seno from VISAGE Studio, who photographed child models with disabilities during a special photoshoot.

Even if a child has a disability, it’s natural for parents to want to have their child’s photos taken at a studio.

However, many parents worry about things like:

“I might cause trouble for the photographer or staff…” “I called to inquire, but was told, ‘We can’t accommodate that here.'”

Because of reasons like these, finding a photo studio that will photograph children with disabilities is quite challenging.

We explained this situation to Mr. Seno and pointed out that, despite there being 33 photo studios (including photography studios) in Ichikawa City and Urayasu City, not a single one mentions on their websites that they welcome people with disabilities.

After discussing how offering this service could help differentiate VISAGE Studio from other studios and give them a competitive advantage as pioneers in the field, Mr. Seno kindly agreed to photograph children with disabilities as advertising models.

That said, when Mr. Seno first heard about photographing child models with disabilities, he admitted he was worried, wondering, “Will I really be able to handle this shoot properly?”

We asked him about his feelings and struggles at the time, and why he ultimately decided to take on the challenge.

Children with disabilities can become advertising models too.

They show their true, unfiltered selves, offering a unique appeal different from typical child models.
